Launching today at @ambientefair is our first collaboration with @official_rosenthal of a collection of unique vases. Three product families have been developed in response to the brief of creating a collection which incorporates themes often found in Zaha Hadid’s architectural and design repertoire including fluidity in shape; mass and void; playfulness; dynamism. The design objects have been produced in platinum, matte black, matte white, glazed white and white/gold.
The Lapp Collection comprises a family of vases in different sizes each exploring the juxtaposition of matt and gloss ceramic finishes. Informed by the motion of a fluid drop flowing along a hard surface, this design defines the openings and voids of the object using a continuous lap contour that allows for many different flower arrangements on the top as well as on the sides of the vases.
Inspired by the fluid lines of Zaha Hadid’s sketching hand, the Weave vases are literally informed by delicate strokes that merge, diverge and intertwine in a dynamic yet simple design. Finished in various combinations of matt and gloss ceramic, Weave’s flowing lines define a powerful yet delicate combination of fluidity and symmetry.
The Strip collection comprises three sculptural, architecturally inspired vases as well as two bowls of different sizes. Through a radial sequence of fluid strips with rhythmical offsets, the Strip Collection is defined by the smooth transition of the rigid square base to the perfectly circular top edge. The simple concept of highlighting the shift between each individual strip adds complexity to the design while challenging the ceramic fabrication process.
The full collection will be available online at Rosenthal after the inaugural showcase this weekend.
