    ZHD x Rosenthal

Lapp Collection Stripp Collection Weave Collection Launching today at @ambientefair is our first collaboration with @official_rosenthal of a collection of unique vases.  Three product families have been developed in response to the brief of creating a collection which incorporates themes often found in Zaha Hadid’s architectural and design repertoire including fluidity in shape; mass and void; playfulness; dynamism. The design objects have been produced in platinum, matte black, matte white, glazed white and white/gold. The Lapp Collection comprises a family of vases in different sizes each exploring the juxtaposition of matt and gloss ceramic finishes. Informed by the motion of a fluid drop flowing along a hard surface, this design defines the openings and voids of the object using a continuous lap contour that allows for many different flower arrangements on the top as well as on the sides of the vases. Inspired by the fluid lines ...

Google celebrates Zaha Hadid with their Google Doodle

Image ©Google Google celebrates Zaha Hadid with their Google Doodle for May 31st this year - the anniversary of her receiving the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Google writes: Today’s Doodle honors architect Zaha Hadid, who captured the world's attention and shattered glass ceilings (in addition to designing some) by becoming the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize on this day in 2004. She was also the first woman awarded the Royal Gold Medal by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Born in Iraq in 1950, Hadid learned about abstract art and architecture at the Architectural Association in London. There, she found inspiration in unconventional forms. Before computers made her designs easier to put on paper, Hadid's studio was known to use the photocopier in creative ways to bend lines and create new shapes. The type in today's Doodle finds inspiration in Hadid's energetic sketches, which explored both form and function. ...
