The Zaha Hadid Design Gallery
A selection of architectural models from the archive of Zaha Hadid Architects are presented in conjunction with an installation looking at tower research, as a retrospective of her design history through model making. As one is guided through the selection of competition models, studies, and built work, a clear progression in her design aesthetic is presented; from her early de-constructivist beginnings to the more fluid and organic design that is presented in 3D printed form.
A selection of contemporary paintings are also on view. For Zaha Hadid painting has, and remains integral to the research and development of each project. Featured on the lower ground level are a selection of work inspired by; and developed in relation to ZHA's redesign of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery and adjacent Magazine Restaurant [London, 2013]. These paintings focus mainly on the innovative tensile roof structure that characterizes the restaurants undulating façade.
Exhibited on the ground floor of the gallery space is an ever changing presentation of Zaha Hadid's limited edition and numbered edition product design. From furniture pieces, to installations, and artwork, the exhibitions often feature pieces that encapsulate the experimental approach to new materials and fabrication techniques. The lower ground floor features a selection of small scale design in our SHOP, over a variety of disciplines ranging from fashion, to homeware, giftware, and lighting.
